The year 2002 is here and SPE is ready to go.  We have a plant tour at ProMold and Orbit in May and the Tech fare in March. We also have several exciting ideas for the second half of the year.
We would like to thank Javelin for a great tour of their facility. It was very interesting and informative.
We will not be scheduling anything in February so that we do not have to complete with the Olympics.  I hope that you all have a chance to participate in a once in a lifetime opportunity.
We are looking for some suggestion about he summer outing. In the past, we have been using the golf outing as a summer event.  We would like to know if there would be interest in a different type of outing or is the golf outing the best for our members.  Please contact me or one of the board members with any suggestion you may have.

Great Salt Lake Section

The Section meeting in January at Javelin was a great experience. Alair Emory, Scott McMillin, Keith Wheadon,  and Tyler Iund gave informative presentations about their capabilities in product design, rapid prototyping, rapid model fabrication, soft tooling, custom manufacturing, and 3D medical diagnostic reconstructions. 
Many of the rapid prototyping systems were making parts.

These included the FDM, LOM, SLS, SLA, and low cost 3D printing with the new "Z-Plastic" infiltrant" system. The costs and benefits of each process were explained.
